By now, the festival has become an eagerly anticipated feature of the Sunshine Coast's early winter calendar combining stunning seasonal weather with child-friendly entertainment and activities, wholesome food, low cost fun and a great atmosphere.
It's a cracking day for children and parents alike.
2013's features include a special appearance by The Sunshine Coast's own Darren Percival, who'll be singing tunes that made him such a massive hit on the show The Voice in 201
This year we have a circus theme, so expect to be dazzled by the work of our volunteer parents and children who will create a child's wonderland. Unicycle lessons? Sure. Want to make your own juggling balls and then learn how to juggle? Come along. All the wonderful features that make the children's festival so unique will be back. Our famous craft stalls with tie-dying, felting, woodworking, silk painting, nature garlands and, sword and magic wand making are there as well as art exhibits and a massive book sale will all be in place.
The raffle has assembled a huge range of prizes and the silent auction has a selection of goodies that anyone can bid for, and maybe score an amazing bargain!
As always, the legendary food will be as wholesome and scrumptious as people now expect. There are wood-fired pizzas - cooked fresh on-site - a curry house and, the famous cake house with its massive array of home-made cakes and cookies on offer. This year there is also a juicing stall and a special children's cafe. Many special dietary requirements are catered for and every attempt is made to ensure all food is organic and locally sourced.
Music is a highlight of every festival, providing a sound-track to the day, and, featured along with Darren Percival will be the wonderful Barleyshakes, magician Sean Trethaway and the school's own children's string orchestra.
The Children's Festival is a highlight event many consider to be the most fun, family-friendly and reasonably-priced family day out in town.
