PARENT EDUCATION
Parent Ed formed in Term 4 2005, as a group of parents seeing a need for more understanding in the school community about Steiner / Waldorf Education.
Our aim is to provide education and information to the parents within the school community (also open to the wider community) on topics that interest and support parents in their endeavours, as a partner in the educating of their child.Equally important, we strive to support the teaching staff - as parents with a greater understanding can better support their child and teacher on the journey.We believe “the more we know, the more we can meet the needs of the child” and a greater harmony can prevail between school and home life. The Parent Ed team endeavours to attend all talks/workshops and take notes.We are currently looking for someone who can attend the talks and then write the notes up for publication in the Newsletter to share with people unable to attend.
Parent Ed meet regularly and frequently at the beginning of each term. These meetings are open to anyone interested.
Parent Ed is funded by the P & F and has an annual budget of $2500. This money is used to pay the costs of visiting speakers and occasionally for the payment or part payment of airfares (sometimes shared with other schools or committees).We have built links with Samford Valley Steiner School through regularly sharing ideas, Julie Lovett is the teacher who co-ordinates Parent Ed at Samford Valley.
Teachers have been supportive. Generally, our guest speakers attract 20+ people per talk.
We also try to meet the school’s quest for developing the social fabric of the school by offering tea/coffee and cake at the evening talks. People are usually very happy to have a cuppa and a chat or ask questions after the talk.

STUDY GROUP
A group of parents and community members meet each week to study the works of Rudolf Steiner. The study group is facilitated by one of our teachers and is open to all members of the school community.
